Held at Carleton University in Ottawa, November 3-5, 2017, the Art of Changing the World (ACW 2017) was an intense and lively event!
Over 200 artists, researchers, policy makers, and community-engaged arts organisations from Canada and abroad came together to exchange knowledge, experience, and conversations about the present and future of the vibrant, fast-growing field of community-engaged art for social change (ASC).

This unique gathering was the final public event of a five-year national research project supported by the Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), fifteen partner organizations and eighteen collaborators. The Art for Social Change (ASC!) research project, led by the International Centre of Art for Social Change (ICASC) at Simon Fraser University, brought together artists, scholars, students and change makers from diverse public and private sectors to conduct research on community-engaged art for social change (ASC) practices in Canada, and to provide information, opportunities for exchange, and resources for both practitioners and those interested in learning more about the field.

The ACW 2017 report contains excellent summaries of themes and sessions, as well as recommendations. Read and download it here!
