The International Centre of Art For Social Change (ICASC), a partnership between Judith Marcuse Projects and Simon Fraser University, invites you to celebrate the launch of a new 30-minute video, So What Is Art For Social Change?, with a free public showing at Simon Fraser University, Harbour Centre Campus, on Thursday, April 15th, at 6 P.M.

Students from SFU’s LEAD program have organized a free, two-hour workshop to be taught by Judith Marcuse, which is open to faculty, students and staff.
Description: Games, movement, images and lots of laughter. This workshop introduces participants to new ways of addressing issues and concerns through the arts. No dance or theatre experience necessary. Just wear comfy clothing and be prepared for fun.

The Assembly of B.C. Arts Councils has invited Judith Marcuse to give a keynote presentation at the Assembly’s 30th Annual Conference and General Meeting scheduled for the Grand Okanagan Lakeside Resort, Kelowna, B.C., from April 30 to May 3, 2009.

Judith’s presentation is set for Saturday, May 2, at lunchtime. She will also present a workshop, Action for Insight, during the morning’s sessions. More information is available at the Assembly’s website.

In late April, ICASC hosted an informal gathering of artists, educators and delegates attending the 4th National Community Play Symposium, held in Vancouver April 27-30, 2008. ICASC hosted a gathering of young urban artists and activists in Vancouver in February, 2008. This was the second meeting of a group, brought together initially in January by the Governor General of Canada, the Honourable Michaëlle Jean, as part of a series of urban arts meetings across the country.
