Judith Marcuse taught a day-long workshop in January, 2009, for the students of Simon Fraser University’s innovative Semester in Dialogue program. The current term’s program is called Designing the Future. Also in January, Judith was part of a dialogue with students in the SFU certificate program in Sustainable Community Development. The topic: Making Change Happen.
Following on SFU’s 2004 Semester in Dialogue’s program, Art and Community, Judith has been invited to rejoin faculty members Mark Winston and Andrea Rose in teaching the Fall, 2009, program when the Semester in Dialogue will offer Art in the Community: Creating Cultures of Ingenuity and Innovation.
In February, Judith will begin outreach work in connection with the upcoming national tour of her multi-media dance/theatre work, EARTH=home. Her first project will be with students at West Vancouver Secondary School, exploring issues relating to the environment and human rights. The Assembly of B.C. Arts Councils has invited Judith to give a keynote presentation at the Assembly’s 30th Annual Conference and General Meeting scheduled for the Grand Okanagan Lakeside Resort, Kelowna, B.C., from April 30 to May 3, 2009. Judith’s presentation is set for Saturday, May 2, at lunchtime. She will also present a workshop, Action for Insight, during the morning’s sessions.
