Carclew Youth Arts Indigenous Arts and Culture Projects

The Indigenous Arts & Culture Program exists to provide, support and consider the growth of an active youth arts arena that’s designed specifically for the cultural needs of young Indigenous South Australians. Its programs include: Handprints, an e-based newsletter distributed monthly to primarily Indigenous arts organisations, artists, arts workers and general submitters. It represents Indigenous art information, community news, funding opportunties and profiles SA Indigenous young artists; Blak Nite, the largest Indigenous youth arts showcase in Australia; a two year program which seeks to address alcohol and substance misuse (and other contemporary social issues) affecting 12 to 20 year olds in the APY Lands through the delivery of arts and cultural workshops; and Ngunyawaieti, an expressive arts program for Indigenous students from years 6-8 attending Catholic schools around South Australia, designed to create connections with other Indigenous peers while participating in artistic and cultural workshops with professional artists from a range of art forms.
