Exploring Arts for Social Change: Communities in Action to be offered again this fall

The course is an overview of the field that includes historical, local and global case studies; goals and strategies; overview of discipline-specific forms; forms and roles of dialogue processes; arts and social change writing by Canadian and international scholars; issues in the field, including ethics; invited practitioner-guests from the field; hands-on, collective arts-creation projects; and reflective writing.

Exploring Arts for Social Change: Communities in Action will run for 13 weeks, from 7 September through 30 November 2011, 6:30-9:20 PM, at SFU’s Harbour Centre campus in downtown Vancouver. It will be taught by doctors Lynn Fels and Judith Marcuse.
