The International Centre of Art for Social Change (ICASC) is pleased to announce the launch of a new Fall Institute to be offered in partnership with Simon Fraser University and Judith Marcuse Projects.
Exploring Arts for Social Change is designed for artists, students and anyone interested in the use of the arts as a vehicle for social change in many contexts. ICASC offers a format that is based in experiential learning and in dialogue with experts from the field.
Schedule: Once weekly, evening, three-hour sessions over 12 weeks, starting Wednesday, September 8, 2010
Content: Overviews of the field, including history, current practices and case studies; exploration of artist/community partnerships and ethics; workshops with artist/practitioners; dialogues with experts from the field; creation of an art project; video showings; selected reading.
Credit and non-credit: The Fall Institute is offered in
partnership with the SFU Faculty of Education and Faculty of Continuing Studies for credit and community learners.
