JMP announces EARTH=home National Tour

Judith Marcuse Projects is pleased to announce the national tour of their multi-media live theatre/dance creation, EARTH=home, to youth and family audiences across Canada in March/April 2009. Part of a series of works designed to address issues concerning today’s young people, EARTH=home encourages youth 12 to 17 years old to think about environmental and social issues, and to participate in their communities in work for positive change.

The production is based on four years of workshops with young people that explored the state of the earth and where we are taking it. The show tells the surreal tale of a group of people suddenly trapped together after taking refuge from a storm. Their attempts to take care of their limited resources and of each other are portrayed with both drama and a large dose of humour.

EARTH=home will be presented in nine Canadian cities, in 47 performances, and will reach about 50,000 youth and their families.

Informed and entertained by the ideas presented in the piece and by engaging in facilitated dialogues following each performance, audiences will be encouraged to take action in their schools and communities. An on-line teacher's guide suggests pre-and post-show in-classroom activities and local environmental and social justice organizations will partner with the production in each city.  For more information about the tour, click here.
